Kelley Hunt will perform at the C.L. Hoover Opera House in Junction City on Friday, September 8th, at 7:00 P.M.
Roots R&B, Americana singer/songwriter, piano player, guitarist Kelley has always been a challenge to the music industry's penchant for easy artist definitions---a woman who muscled her way onto the scene on her own terms with an identity steeped in blues, roots, and gospel traditions and refreshing originality. She makes music with its righteous roots intact that crosses boundaries, is at times cinematic, always open-minded and exploratory and unafraid to take on social and political issues. It is all delivered with a commanding, passionate stage presence and superior vocal, keyboard, and songwriting skills.
Kelley's career includes 6 acclaimed indie releases, two single, and her first holiday album "Winter Solstice" which landed Nov. 2022 to wide critical acclaim: "If you're tired of the same old stale, over-roasted chestnuts for Christmas, Kelley Hunt brings some fresh fare to the holiday table, offering up a big band, gospel/soul platter with 'Winter Soulstice'."
Prior to the show, there will be a free vocal workshop with Hunt, on Friday morning, at the Opera House Theater.
The workshop will be at 10 A.M. in the theater and is for ages 14 and up. In order to participate in the workshop, registration is required. https://www.jcoperahouse.org/
Thanks to a grant from the Kansas Department of Commerce: Creative Arts Industries Commission the Opera House received funding for the Kelley Hunt Concert and Vocal Workshop.
