Jimmy Dale Cannon

Jimmy Dale Cannon, 84, of Wamego, Kansas, died Monday, November 16, 2020, at his home.  He moved to Wamego in 1970.

Jimmy was born on October 15, 1936, in El Dorado, Kansas, the son of Lester and Agnes Volkman Cannon.

Jimmy was born with Cerebral Palsy but was able to overcome his condition and worked for over twenty-five years as an operator for RW Milling in Wamego.  He worked at the plant and also drove truck.  Jimmy also worked for the City of Wamego.

He married Sue Ellen Eakins.  She preceded him in death on August 12, 2014.

Jimmy loved to mow and voluntarily mowed along the Union Pacific railroad tracks near his home for forty-eight years.  He enjoyed tinkering, and in earlier years talking on his CB to the truckers passing through the area.  Jimmy enjoyed going to the Wamego Senior Center.

Jimmy is survived by his long-time friends, Brian Brockish, Timothy Weixelman, and Amber Barber.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, and a sister.

Graveside inurnment services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Wamego City Cemetery.  Reverend Rick Hernandez will be officiating.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Community Care Ministry or the Wamego Senior Center, and those may be sent in care of Campanella-Evans Mortuary.
