JUNCTION CITY, Kan. - As part of the inaugural Oktoberfest celebration in Junction City, the Main Street organization has begun taking registration for the Oktoberfest Volksmarch on October 9th.
A German tradition, volksmarch means "people's march," and the event will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of 7th and Washington in Downtown Junction City. There will be both a 5K and 13K march. The 5K walk will go to 5th street park and back, while the 13K will march to the new Junction City High School and back.
The first 300 to finish will receive Volksmarch medals and registration and mass start time will begin at 8:00 a.m. on the day of the event.
Registration for the event is $5 in advance online, and $10 to register the day of the event. Children 10 and under can participate for FREE.
