A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the Flint Hills, including Geary and Riley counties, until midnight Friday.
The National Weather Service in Topeka is warning of the potential of 75 mph wind gusts and half-dollar-size hail. There is a 70 percent chance of rain or thunderstorms in the area Friday evening and a 30 percent to 40 percent chance through Saturday.
A very high fire danger continues through the evening, as well.
