RCPD: Riley man jailed for weapons and cash theft

RILEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Riley County man on numerous charges after an arrest 

Just after 8p.m. Wednesday, officers filed a report for theft in the 11,900 block of Crooked Creek Rd. near Leonardville, according to the Riley County Police Department activity report.

A 50-year-old man reported a 23-year-old male suspect later identified as 23-year-old Brandon Welty of Riley, stole multiple guns, credit cards, bow and arrows, keys, liquor and $200 cash.

Junction City Police arrested Welty and he was booked into the Geary County Jail early Thursday on requested charges of possession of stolen property; value less than $1,500, possession of stolen property; Firearm with value less than $25,000, transporting an open container, criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of stimulant, interference with law enforcement, Use/possess w/intent to use drug paraphernalia into human body and Traffic contraband in corr/care facility; Intro item on grounds, according to online jail records.
