Richard ( Dick ) Alvin Millner

  Richard (Dick) Alvin Millner passed away at the age of 82 on September 28, 2024 in Abilene, KS. He was born to Alvin and Dorothy Millner on March 4, 1942 in San Antonio, TX. Richard graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1960. He worked on the oil rigs in South Texas and had various retail jobs in his younger years before moving to Abilene, KS in 1975 to work for Duckwall, Alco as an electronics buyer. He retired in 2000 to pursue his hobbies of golfing, riding his motorcycle, and working in his woodshop. Richard was also an avid reader, enjoying westerns and many other genres.

Richard married Lynda Millican in 1961 and to that union three children, Adam, Jill and David were born. On October 6, 1990 Richard married Marita Horan McAsey and he gained three more daughters, Camille, Tamara and Jennifer.

Richard had many hobbies and interests, but he enjoyed family most of all. He was proud of all of his children and grandchildren, their spouses and his great grandchildren. He loved family traditions and instilled that love in his family who will continue to honor those traditions in their own lives. His stories of growing up in South Texas were enjoyed by his children and grandchildren, and those stories are sure to be re-told for generations to come.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, son Adam Millner and grandson River Wilson Millner. He is survived by his wife, Marita Millner; children Camille (Russell) Wheeler, Tamara (Ron) Leard, Jill Millner (Steve) Lang, Jennifer (Brady) Showalter, and David Millner; Brother Bill Millner. Grandchildren Killian (Sheridan) Millner, Zoe Millner, Olivia (Gus Bryant) Crist, Ava Crist, Kassidi (Matt) Lienemann, Kain Anderson, Bryce Wheeler, Bailey Wheeler, Cody (Kari Barner) Pfaff, Keith (Kodi Bays) Pfaff, Carrie (Carson) Long, Austin (Brittany) Showalter, Sean Brice, Meghan (Cody) Reesman, Madison (Brandon) Heilman, Cameron (Jessie Amann) Lang, Cassie Lang, Cody (Sierra) Lang; 17 great grandsons and one great granddaughter due in February of 2025.In lieu of a funeral, Richard asked for a party to celebrate his life.

Friends are invited to join the family on Saturday, October 12 at Abilene Golf and Fitness from 5pm to 8pm.Richard wanted to set up a college fund for his great grandchildren. Friends may contribute if they wish by bringing contributions to the party or sending them to Marita at the home.
