The Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce will have more time to get operations back on track. Board Chair Ashley King reported on new information learned by Chamber leaders.

King referred to the timeline established in the Chamber master agreement, "The agreement states that it may be terminated by written notice given no later than July 1 of the first term in effect. " King added the current renewal started January 1, 2025 and continues until December 31, 2026.

King said, "Under that timeline an order for the agreement to be terminated effective December 31, 2026 notice would have been required no later than July 1,2025." That step did not occur. The city's notice had been given on June 24,2026, after the deadline. Under the City's notice the ttermination would not become effective until December 31, 2028.

King said that the new information means there is more time "to work through the structure, negotiate changes, establish accountability and determine what is the best interest of the community before the termination becomes effective."

No action was required by the commission Tuesday night but there was sentiment expressing relief that there is moe time to wirk through the Chamber issues.
