Just after 1p.m., a Dickinson County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a Volkswagen Jetta traveling north on K-43 Highway near Hope for speeding, according to a media release from the sheriff's office.

The driver, later identified as Shierra K. Gray, 32, of Salina, refused to stop and the Deputy pursued her to the 1500 Block of K-15 Highway, where the Sheriff and Undersheriff assisted with bringing the fleeing vehicle to a stop.

Dickinson County EMS and the Kansas Highway Patrol were dispatched to the scene.  Gray was taken into custody and transported to Abilene Memorial Hospital and later to Salina Regional Health Center by ambulance due to an apparent medical issue not related to the vehicle pursuit.  The incident remains under investigation.
