Junction City Commissioners have approved a motion directing the city attorney by a June 30 deadline to give notice to the Geary County Commission and Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce on the City's intent to seek a restructure of the Chamber of Commerce master agreement. City Attorney Britian Stites would then return to the commmission with options for further action at a later time.

The commission also voted to withold funding disbursement by the city to the economic development commission except for payroll costs, existing contractual costs, lease obligations and other substantial costs. Other requests for disbursement must be submitted in writing with supporting documentation for review by the city manager and finance director prior to either approval or denial. The vote on that motion was 3-2 with the no votes cast by Richard Pinaire and Pat Landes. Voting yes were Kelly Niemczyk, Sam Yoskowitz and Terry Butler. Pinaire wanted more information before acting on the motion, while Landes felt the action might be a little premature.

Future restructuring could not occur before January 1.

The master agreement covers the EDC, Chamber Membership Division and the Military Affairs Council.
