Dorothy Ann (Hinds) Carlson, 93, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at the Leonardville Nursing Home. Dorothy was born August 18, 1927, to Maurice C. and Edith M. (White) Hinds. She was raised in Clay County and graduated from CCCHS with the Class of 1945. On May 25, 1946, Dorothy married Wayne A. Carlson farming and raising their family in Clay County.
Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center. She loved music and accompanied for many musicians over the years. She was the church musician at the Broughton Methodist Church until the church closed.
Dorothy ran the office at the Clay Center Livestock Co. for many years while she and Wayne were co-owners of the business. She enjoyed getting to know the people that she met. Dorothy was also the Activities Director at the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor. She enjoyed working with and drawing out all the residents into the various activities.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, an infant daughter Reta, her parents, and brother Arlo Hinds. Survivors are sons Rex (Sandy) Carlson of Clay Center and Ron (Terry) Carlson of Wamego. Surviving grandchildren Jenni (Ryan) Reaves, Scott (Erin) Carlson, Graig (Christina) Carlson, David (Madeline McMahill) Carlson, Ean (Heather) Carlson and seven great-grandchildren.
