Portion of K18 bridge closed after damaged in semi crash

RILEY COUNTY—A portion of a bridge in Riley County was damaged in an accident just before 4p.m. Monday.

A 2022 Sterling semi pulling a large backhoe on Kansas 18 just east of 56th Avenue, according to the Riley County Police Department Activity Report.

The vehicle struck the bottom of a bridge while passing underneath, causing major damage to the cement structure. No injuries were reported. The Kansas Department of Transportation will have a portion of the bridge closed indefinitely while repairs are made.
