RILEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating an alleged aggravated battery and have a suspect in custody.
Just after 2:30a.m. Thursday, police filed a report for aggravated battery in the 500 block of Leavenworth Street in Manhattan, according to the Riley County Police Department activity rep ort.
A 42-year-old woman reported a 41-year-old male suspect later identified as Nicholas Mainville of Manhattan hit her in the face with a baseball bat.
EMS transported the victim to Via Christi for treatment of her injuries. Police arrested Mainville on a requested charge of aggravated battery. He is no longer in custody, according to online jail records.
Mainville has previous convictions for making a false writing, attempted trafficking contraband into a correctional facility and for unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance, according to the Kansas Dept. of Corrections.
