Alfred’s life began on March 6, 1950, in Herington. He was the son of Donald L. and Ina B. (Swanson) Miller. Alfred was a graduate of Center High School and served his country in the United States Army. He was a valued employee for over 38 years at Custom Metal Fabricators (CMF) in Herington as a welder. Alfred never had a sick day in all the years he worked at CMF and was considered part of the “family” at the shop. He was a metal hobbyist, creating works of art in metal including the alligator in front of the CMF plant and the metal spider.
Alfred is survived by his children Jennifer, Justin and Phillip Miller, all of Herington; grandchild Jodi Marie Miller, and siblings George (Shirley), Donna, Dean and Valere. Alfred passed away at his home on Saturday June 19, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, and son Clint Miller in 2008.
His family will gather with friends on Wednesday June 30, 2021, at the Wilsey Cemetery where his memorial graveside service will be held with military honors. Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Herington is serving the family. Memorial contributions in Alfred’s name may be directed to the American Legion in care of the funeral home.
