If Martin Luther King Jr. were alive today one speaker at the King celebration in Junction City Monday thought he would have been pleased on one level but disappointed on another level. 1st Infantry Division Chaplain ( LTC ) James Key told an audience at the C.L. Hoover Opera House he thought that King would be upset that the fight for voting rights was still under way.
Key explained a challenge today is to keep King's legacy alive. That can be done through volunteerism, if we see wrong strive to make it right, and keep moving. He noted that a dark yesterday can be transformed into a bright tomorrow. "Keep moving the best is yet to come.
Key was one of numerous speakers during the celebration at the C. L. Hoover Opera House. Another one included U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, who noted that we must bridge the gaps that divide us and bridge the gaps that divide the nation.
