Salute to America Parade serves as a Fourth of July highlight

More than 40 entries comprised the Salute to America Parade on Saturday in Junction City. The event was one of the highlights of Sundown Salute.

The 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley Commanding General's Mounted Color Guard, JCHS band, J-Steppers and cheerleaders, Isis Shrine, motorcycle riders, many children on floats and candidates for elected office all were part of the parade.

The first place entry went to the Girl Scouts, second place to 2nd Cavalry Baptist Bible School and third place to CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates.

This was the 45th year for the Sundown Salute parade.
