JC Breakfast Optimist Club
Over the last 10 years, the JC Breakfast Optimist Club has donated to United Way. The money is used to help needy families get school supplies for their children. Nichole Mader, Director of United Way of Junction City/Geary County told club members on Wednesday that "the Stuff the Bus program is designed to send kids in USD 475, St. Xavier's Catholic Schools and Chapman back to school equipped to learn."
Mader also said "there are two approaches to the program. One is for individuals, civic groups or other organizations to Adopt-A-Backpack and the other is to seek donations at Wal-Mart and/or Dillon's on July 19, July 26 and August 2 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM each day. A list of suggested items will be provided as patrons enter the store. School items may be purchased and then left with volunteers at the exits of the store.
