The Geary County Historical Society will be hosting two events at St. Joseph's Historic Church this month. This Saturday, October 24th , the Historical Society will host a family movie night at the church with a showing of Disney Pixar's Coco. Doors will open at 5:30pm for Dia de los Muertos activities including a cemetery talk, paper marigold activities, and an art project. The movie will begin at 6:30pm.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own camp chairs and blankets for the event. Family movie night is a free event sponsored by United Way of Junction City Geary County and the Geary County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

On Friday October 30th, Acoustic Junction is returning to St. Joe's for a night of live music and community as GCHS and the McDowell Creek Community raise funds for the final steps in the St. Joe's restoration project. Musical guests include KJ Hitchman, Up a Creek, and Seven Bridges Serenade. Refreshments will be served starting at 6:30. Music begins at 7:00 and all proceeds directly benefit the St. Joseph's Restoration Project.

St. Joseph's Historic Church is located at 13497 Lower McDowell Creek Road and is an ongoing restoration project for the Historical Society. Recently completed projects include restored plaster and paint. In November, following these events, work will begin on restoring the floors and choir loft.

To reach St. Joe's, take I-70 to exit 307 and head south for two miles. The church will be on the left. Carpooling is suggested.
