Approximately 40 acres of a combination of grassland and cedar trees burned in a fire Monday afternoon northwest of Junction City at a location adjacent to K-244 Highway. Geary County Rural Fire Chief Garry Berges confirmed that there were no injuries.
The cause of the blaze is unknown.
For a time two outbuildings for the Geary County Fish and Game Association's Sportsman's Acres were threatened but they were saved. The ground where the fire occurred belonged to the Corps of Engineers.
Geary County sent six units and Dickinson County five units to battle the blaze.
