
Johnny Lial Oxford, 76, ofChapman, Kansas, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025. Born on March 5, 1949, in Neosho, Missouri, to the late Ralph and Edith (Sage) Oxford, John lived a life marked by dedication, service, faith, and love for his family.John proudly served in the United States Army from June 17, 1969, to August 31, 1991, retiring as a distinguished Infantry Noncommissioned Officer.
His 22 years of service were defined by unwavering commitment, leadership, and courage. John cherished his time in uniform, taking immense pride in serving his country with honor and integrity. His legacy of duty and devotion to his fellow soldiers will be remembered by all who knew him.He is survived by his two children, Destinee Raquel Allen (Travis Yancey) of Imperial Beach, California, and John Travis Oxford (Amy Oxford) of Chapman, Kansas; his former wife, Pamela Oxford; three sisters, Patricia Bly, Frances Sloan, and Mary Long; six grandchildren, Keith Callender, Kevin Callender, Heather'lea Walsh, Kayla Oxford, Kyrsten Oxford, and Koen Oxford; and six great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by seven siblings: Ralph Oxford, Grace Oxford, Harry Oxford, Jerry Oxford, Dale Oxford, Martha Oxford, and Geraldine (Oxford) Miller.A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel in Chapman, Kansas.
