Patricia Gale Frey, 89, of Wamego Kansas passed away January 9th, 2026, just shy of her 90th birthday. Pat was born and raised in Ransom Kansas, the daughter of Willard and Hollis Stowe. While attending Fort Hays State University, she met Larry James Rogers and they were married in 1956. They settled in Wamego, Kansas where they owned Wamego Pharmacy for many years.

In 1979, Pat married David Frey. They were married until David passed away in 2017. David and Pat experienced many adventures during their time together. They loved traveling and traveled to 25 countries and 5 continents. One of her favorite trips was to Tanzania, Africa for David’s retirement celebration. According to Pat “It was a trip of a lifetime and one they would both be happy to repeat”. Pat and David also loved cycling abroad and at home.

Pat graduated from KSU with both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in education. She was particularly proud of the fact that she was just shy of obtaining her PhD. In Wamego, she dedicated 12 years to teaching third grade, nurturing a love of learning in her students, followed by 10 years in Title I reading, where she empowered readers and instilled joy in literacy. Pat was a staunch supporter of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where she served on many committees. She taught vacation bible school, Sunday school and more. Pat was a supporter of the Columbian Theatre, The Oz Museum, McCain Theatre, Community Health Ministries, The Senior Center and the Wamego Library.

Pat LOVED to play bridge with her dear friends. It was the highlight of her week. She loved spending time with her grandchildren at their Lake home in Council Grove and skiing in Colorado. Pat was an avid reader and loved reading to her children and grandchildren.

Pat is preceded in death by husband David Frey, parents Willard and Hollis Stowe, brother Lloyd Stowe, Gloria Jean Folkers and Gwendolyn Klitzke, grandchild Dominic Sandoval, and her beloved dog, Gigi. She is survived by one son, Dr. Rodd Rogers (Angela) Kansas City, MO, Tyra Sandoval (Gene), Colorado Springs CO, Darcee Farrell, Wamego KS, 2 step children , Gelene Tabor (Dan) Birchwood WI, Jennifer Quebedeaux (David) Applewood GA, Grandchildren, Apryl, Jared, Joseph, Raquell, Amanda, Shane and step grandchildren, Ryan, Meaghan and numerous great grandchildren.

Celebration of her beautiful life is scheduled on her 90th Birthday, February 12, 2026 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church of Wamego with Rev. Casey Rohleder officiating. Visitation with Family will begin at 10:00 am with the service at 11:00 am. Following the service will be the inurnment at Wamego City Cemetery. A reception to follow at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
