Saturday, January 29th, is Kansas Day.

This annual state holiday celebrates the founding of the state and the history of the people. This year the Geary County Historical Society is celebrating the 161st anniversary of Kansas's statehood by hosting a family fun day.

Historical Society Executive Director Heather Hagedorn said that the Kansas Day Celebration, which will take place on Saturday from 1-4 p.m. at the museum (530 N. Adams), will include activities like growing your own sunflower, pioneer games and of course some birthday cake. This is a free event and a great opportunity to come out, learn about local and state history, while also participating in S.T.E.A.M. activities.
