Gary County Commissioner Alex Tyson attended the annual Association of the United States Army convention in Washington D. C.
He noted that during the trip there were discussions by Junction City and Manhattan delegations with congressional staff representatives on subjects including unity, mental health, healthcare, the shortage of doctors and nurses where specialized nursing is a huge issue and medicaid expansion.
Efforts are under way to figure out how to get doctors to the area.
