Geary County Rural Fire Chief Garry Berges confirmed that Geary County Rural Fire is assisting with the fires in Southwest Kansas.
On Thursday, the State put out a request for fire departments to assist. Geary County sent one fire brush unit and two personnel as part of a 5 unit area team from Dickinson County area to assist. The two person crew from Geary County drove over four hours to Meade, Kansas, Thursday evening and worked overnight until 7:00 a.m. this morning.
The crew is still out near Meade and will be assisting with more fires today south and west of Dodge City.
