DICKINSON COUNTY —Three died in an accident just before 3:30p.m. Tuesday in Dickinson County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2003 Kenworth semi driven by Dwight E. Morey, 63, Fairmont, Oklahoma, was southbound on Kansas 15 at 1500 Avenue.
The semi struck a 2006 Dodge Dakota driven by Joel C. Hynes, 54, Junction City, who was southbound on Kansas 15 and had made a u-turn at 1500 Avenue.
After impact the pickup entered the east ditch and flipped onto its roof. The semi entered the east ditch and came to rest in a field.
Hynes and passengers in the pickup Mary L. Hynes, 64, and John L. Hynes, 78, Coal Valley, Illinois, were pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Martin Becker Funeral Home. Morey was not transported for treatment of a minor injury. John Hynes was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
