Geary County Commissioner Trish Giordano reported on a number of issues during the Tuesday night meeting of the governing body. She noted at a recent Military Affairs Council meeting there was discussion about a possible Veterans Parade. But instead there was consensus on going with a Veterans Summit where resources could be provided for veterans on the Saturday before Veterans day.
Giordano also referred to an $18,000 deficiency in cash for MAC last year. She would like to see an explanation on the cause. It has been made up with an annual appropriation from the city and county.
There has been a request by Alan Bontrager for a marketing campaign. Giordano wants to see it headed up by the CVB. She would like to see the subject discussed at a joint city, county, school district meeting.
Giordano and Commissioner Kathy Tremont both agreed to go with quarterly department staff meetings in the future.
