The Junction city Lady Jay Tennis team competed in the Topeka High Varsity Tennis Invitational on Wednesday. The Lady Jays fared well at all positions on the way to a runner up finish in the 8 team event.
Coach Matt Mikheel said the #2 singles and doubles teams led the way with runner up finishes in their division. Julia Cho went 3-1, only losing the championship in a third set super tiebreaker. The doubles team of Aniela Adjei and Skylor O’Sullivan teamed up also winning all three matches in their pool before losing in the championship.
In the top singles flight, Hannah Micheel earned 3rd place also going 3-1 on the day. In the top doubles flight, Leila Etheridge and Emma Young teamed up to go 2-2 on the day earning 5th place. Olathe East won the event with 31 points, followed by the Lady Jays with 24 points.
The Lady Jays next compete in the Olathe Northwest Varsity Quadrangular at the College Boulevard Activity Center on Thursday. Matches are scheduled to start at 3 pm.
