JUNCTION CITY, Kan. – Junction City High School junior Amberleigh Thurman was one of only 50 students selected, nationally, to the Kansas State University Summer Choral Institute in July. By being selected, Thurman, who earned a concert solo while at the institute, not only received a full scholarship to attend July 20-25, but also earned a $1,000 scholarship to enroll at K-State as a music major or minor once she graduates from JCHS.
Thurman participates in numerous clubs and activities as a Blue Jay, including the JC Singers, J-Steppers and chamber choir.The Summer Choral Institute, now in its 48th year, is a nationally renowned leadership and choral music training program. Only 50 high school freshmen through juniors from across the nation received a full scholarship to attend.
