RILEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating criminal damage at the county jail in Manhattan,

Just after 11:30p.m. Saturday, officers filed a report for criminal damage to property after an inmate identified as 34-year-old John Schum ripped out plastic the door frame of his cell door, according to police spokesperson Aaron Wintermote.

The total estimated loss associated with this case is approximately $500.

In July police arrested Schum on requested charges of Battery; Physical contact in rude, insulting, angry manner, Criminal threat; Cause terror, evacuation or disruption and Criminal damage to property and in May he spend time in the Riley County Jail for Disorderly conduct; Pedestrians under influence of alcohol or drugs, according to the RCPD arrest report.
