Junction City Commissioners have accepted final payment from Geary County for EMS Services in fiscal year 2023. The payments total $1,514.698.39
This is a major step forward in resolving the dispute between the city and county over the county's payment of EMS fees. Now work will proceed on a 2024 interim agreement. In the meantime pending a final agreement the city will submit itemized bills to the county for the actual cost of the services per a current agreement.
Junction City has been prevented from suspending EMS Services outside city limits and the County must keep paying for the service per a recent court ruling. Judge W. Lee Fowler of the 5th Judicial District had allowed the two entities to continue negotiations or determine a new contract.
