Geary Community Hospital officials are publishing a daily COVID-19 patient census update at the hospital. For example, on Tuesday, the hospital reported that there were six unvaccinated COVID-19  patients being treated in the hospital. Three were in the intensive care unit and all three were on ventilators. There were no vaccinated patients receiving treatment for the coronavirus.

During the Junction City Commission meeting Tuesday evening, Dr. Pat Landes, who is also a commissioner, addressed the topic. If you've had the vaccine you're not in the hospital and not on a ventilator. It's real simple." Landes added that while that is probably not the case everywhere it is very telling. "If you do get the virus you're not going to get that sick. It's very simple and people are dropping. "

Landes noted that he reads chest x-rays every day on people that are on ventilators and it's not good. And I've been looking at them for over a year now." The commissioner said it's not hard to get the vaccine and there are plenty of doses at the hospital year around.
