Longtime USD 475 coach and teacher, Ryan Norton, is being recommended to become the next athletic director at Junction City High School. That  goes to the Board of Education for consideration on May 3rd.

Dr. Deb Gustafson, USD 475 Associate Superintendent, said that there were two different interview panels. Norton went through two separate interviews and was the selection as the top candidate. "Mr. Norton currently teaches computer science at Fort Riley Middle School. He is also the Junction City High School assistant coach for cross country and the Fort Riley Middle School coach for wrestling. " Norton has been with the school district since 2010.

Gustafson noted that there were some outstanding candidates for  the athletic director position, and Ryan was selected by the committees for his name to go forward for approval by the Board of Education. Norton would start working as the athletic director on Aug. 1. He would succeed Matt Westerhaus, who is stepping down after this year.
