The Junction City Freedom Run will mark its 49th year on July 4, 2025 as a cornerstone of the annual Freedom Fest celebration. Registration is now open for the 1-mile, 5K, and newly certified 10K course. All races will begin at 7:30 a.m. from Downtown Junction City, with the finish at Heritage Park.
The certification for the 10K course marks a significant milestone for the event, allowing runners to use their times for qualification purposes at other races nationwide.
"Achieving certification for our 10K course elevates the Freedom Run to a new level of competitive excellence," says Terrah Stroda, event coordinator. " Starting in downtown Junction City creates that special hometown energy while our certified route delivers professional-caliber racing."
Race organizers continue to prioritize the runner experience with enhanced water stops, precision course markings and chip timing.
All three courses will begin simultaneously at the intersection of 8th and Washington in downtown Junction City, creating a mass start that has become a highlight of the event.
Non-runners can participate by volunteering at water stations, assisting with course safety, or contributing to the finish line experience. Those interested in volunteering should message the Freedom Run – Junction City Facebook page.
