Junction City / Geary County United Way and First Baptist Church of Junction City are teaming up to host a Volunteer Fair on May 14th. Nichole Mader, United Way Executive Director, said it will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Fifth Street Park. "Families and individuals are welcome to come out and learn about organizations in the community and how to sign up to get volunteer services.
A similar event was held last spring. Mader said that they want to try and do two of these events twice each year, including once in May just before summer and another one in September.
Mader said the goal is to get the community out and get people to volunteer. "Helping them learn about the agencies and programs. We get phone calls on a pretty regular basis of people needing volunteer opportunities and so this is just a great way to connect the dots." United Way supports multiple organizations and agencies in the community.
