Deployments are ahead for Fort Riley units.

Maj. Gen. Monte Rone informed a Military Affairs Council audience in Junction City on Thursday that nearly everyone ( soldiers ) at Fort Riley will deploy over the next 12-16 months. October of 2026 until March of 2027 will be the low time for troop numbers on Post. Departures by military families will probably occur during the deployments, and you can expect limited activity around the installation during that October 2026 to March 2027 period.

There are 201 1st Infantry Division Soldiers now serving on the southern U.S. border. More from the Division are expected to go there.

The Devil Brigade of approximately 4,000 to 4,500 soldiers ( 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team ) also recently went to the National Training Center for a brief time and is now preparing to deploy to eastern Europe.

For families who choose to remain in the Fort Riley area during their soldier's deployments Rone noted that there are family support groups and others available to help them.
