Matt Hoover, Director of Communications of USD 475, was a guest speaker at the Junction City Breakfast Optimist Club at the Hampton Inn on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

He spoke about what social media entails among the students presently. It used to be News Releases and Facebook but now its Instagram and messaging that does not go past 2 paragraphs on the platform with photos, graphics, reels and stories. They want instant gratification.

Speaking about what he likes about his job (it is working with students, teachers, staff and families ---talking and looking at things in a positive way). From elementary to high school, he has witnessed students who are very respectful in our school district. He has learned a lot about military life through his interactions with students and staff.

One recent project that he conducted was the Portrait of a Graduate Survey – over 400 students participated by filling out the survey. They wanted the district to know what was important to them as students and what has helped them grow during their time in the district. Several times during his speech, Matt told the club members that he loves his job and is so proud to be in this school district.
