A letter is addressed to the property owner and may include some accurate information, such as date sold. This scam is requesting you scan a QR code or send a check to pay for services. You may also notice some grammatical errors. These letters DO NOT come from the Register of Deeds office.
You can get a copy of your deed for your property for FREE through the Register of Deeds office by calling 785-238-5531 or coming by to request a copy in person. The Geary County Register of Deeds office will never solicit recording services via mail, or for you to receive a copy of your property records.
