A good crowd attended the Geary County Conservation District Annual Meeting on January 23, 2025 at the Senior Center.  A delicious free meal was sponsored by Central National Bank, Intrust Bank, KS State Bank and Landmark Bank.

The meeting portion of the meeting consisted of a report of the District’s activity since the last meeting, the 2024 Financial Report and the election of Shelby Richling to serve a three year term on the Board of Supervisors.

The awarding of a Grassland Award to the Geary County Rural Fire Department.  Chief Garry Berges and Assistant Fire Chief Curt Janke accepted the award from Board of Supervisors member Shelby Richling.  The Fire Department was commended for backing up landowners as they conduct prescribed burns of native rangeland and the protection of rural properties during wildfire events.
