Second half defense helps the Blue Jays to a win

Junction City jumped out to a 15-point lead in the first half but a Topeka High rally coupled with some Blue Jay mistakes handling the basketball allowed the Trojans to climb within three points at 36-33. But in the second half a trapping defense utilized by the Blue Jays, key rebounds and shooting helped Junction City pull away to an 80-53 win over the Trojans. 

Howard Johnson scored 23 points, Terrance Tedder  12 and Sheldon Butler-Lawson finished 11 points in the Junction City victory in the Topeka High gym.

Junction City improved to 2-0 while the Trojans fell to 0-2.

In the girls matchup Topeka High jumped out to a 17-0 lead before rolling on to defeat the Junction City Lady Jays 82-24. Sara Rexrode led Junction City with nine points.

The Lady Jays fell to 0-3 while Topeka High is 2-0.
