Officials with the C. L. Hoover Opera House are announcing receipt of major donations to assist in renovations of the recently acquired building at 131 West 7th Street which is adjacent to the Opera House.
One donation from the Sunderland Foundation of Overland Park totals $200,000. Another donation from Michelle Munson and Serban Simu totals $250,000. Michelle and Serban have also offered an additional $250,000 in matching funds. Any donations received toward this goal will be matched dollar for dollar.
The work on the addition is being done to create room for the growing youth education programs. Work on the plans for the addition are proceeding with the architectural firm of Bruce McMillan. Costs of the renovation have been estimated at about two million dollars.
