Fireworks and performances by the ZZ KC and the Rock Gods entertained an audience estimated by Freedom Fest JC organizers at between 4,000 and 5,000 people.
A street dance followed the fireworks.
The fireworks Saturday night were the first of two rounds for Freedom Fest JC. More are planned for Monday evening.
The Sunday lineup includes a community church service at 10 a.m. and concerts Sunday evening from Brandon Estelle at 6:30 p.m. and Rhett Walker at 8:30 p.m.
Sundown Salute is also under way this weekend in the Milford City Park. The concert lineup for Sunday evening includes country & western music including Queens of Country at 8 p.m. and Diamond Rio at 10 p.m.
