The National Weather Service in Topeka is calling for the temperature — and the wind — to begin to pick up in the Flint Hills heading into the weekend.
The high temperature Thursday and Friday will be around 70, with 20 to 30 mph sustained winds, gusting up to 45 mph.
There is a 20 percent chance of rain or thunderstorms in the early morning hours Friday, with another 20 percent chance of precipitation Friday afternoon.
Skies will clear over the weekend, the NWS predicted, with a high in the mid-50s expected Saturday, jumping all the way to the mid- to upper-70s on Sunday.
