JCHS qualifies 14 athletes for the State Track Meet

Fourteen Junction City Blue Jay and Lady Jay track and field athletes will compete in the State Track Meet at Cessna Stadium in Wichita next Friday and Saturday, May 27th and 28th.

Junction City finished fourth in the boys competition and sixth in girls competition at a Class 6A Regional Meet in Topeka on Thursday, where the top four finishers in events qualified for state.

Highlights for the Blue Jay boys included:

--Tyler Atkins finishing first in the 800 meters in 1:58.53, second in the 3200 meters 9:58.31 and second in the 1600 meters in  4:31.68

--Ethan Agudzi-Addo third in the 300 meter hurdles 42.52 and third in the high jump 6"

-- Josiah Delva, fourth 400 meter dash, 52.29

--4 x 400 relay team third, Josiah Delva, Anthony Kemp, Jayden Reutzel, Malijah Byers 3:28.02

--Keghan McConnell second shotput 48 and second discus 156'

--Randall Banks second long jump 21'8"

The Blue Jays scored 72 team points.

--Lorna Rae Pierce third 3200 meter run 11:47.63

--Nhubia Coney third 100 meter dash 12.33, third 400 meter dash 59.93, third 26.34200 meter dash 

--Brynna York fourth 1600 meter run 5:38.92

--4 x 100 relay third 50.66 Patience Okemba, Nhubia Coney, Shamiyah Joyner, Jayda Harris

--Jayda Harris second triple jump 33'8.75"

The Lady Jays scored 48 team points.
