Geary County Commissioner Keith Ascher has been elected by his fellow commissioners to serve as chair for the coming year. Alex Tyson will be the vice chair and Trish Giordano secretary.
Ascher will be serving as chair for the second time in his seven years on the governing body. He discussed his priorities for the coming year. "Biggest priority is seeing the transition for the hospital. " Stormont Vail Health has assumed oversight of what was formerly Geary Community Hospital.
Ascher wants the county to get back with county road chip sealing. He also wants to work hard on funding that might be available for broadband internet to rural Geary County. "Because we really are lacking that." Redistricting will be another priority.
