DICKINSON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Ohio woman caught with more than five pounds of fentanyl in her car during a traffic stop on Interstate 70, according to a media release from the Dickinson County Sheriff.

On May 5, a member of the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a stop for numerous traffic violations on a passenger car at the Abilene exit.

During the stop, the deputy became suspicious of criminal activity. The sheriff's office K-9 was deployed and helped find  5.2 pounds of fentanyl in the car.

Deputies arrested the driver, Latoya Walker, 39, of Dublin, Ohio, on requested narcotics-related charges for trafficking fentanyl.

Fentanyl can be lethal in extremely small doses. It is a synthetic opioid that is 80-100 times stronger than morphine and has been responsible for thousands of deaths across the United States, the sheriff's office noted.
