Hazel Ruth Thomas, age 88, of Dwight, Kansas, passed away December 16, 2020 at Diversicare of Council Grove. She was born March 10, 1932 in Birch Tree, Missouri, the daughter of Clarence and Estelle (Haven) Thompson. She married Dale Thomas in 1954 and made their home in Kansas.&nbsp; To this union, they had three children: James, Diana and Larry. Hazel was a homemaker.&nbsp; After their children were grown she worked in the Junction City area, holding different positions for JC Penney.

She was a member of Dwight United Methodist Church, UMW, Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Dwight Library Board. Other than volunteering her time, she was also an avid reader.&nbsp; She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens and loved spending time with her family.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, husband Dale, daughter Diana, and son Larry. She is survived by her son Jim Thomas and wife Luretta, grandchildren Joshua, Christina, Hannah, Rachel and Deborah.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00, Monday, December 21st, at Dwight Cemetery. Masks and social distancing are required.&nbsp;

A private burial was held prior.&nbsp; Memorial contributions may be made to the Dwight Library and sent in care of Sawyer Funeral Home, PO Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.
