The Hope we have in Jesus

Laurie Rae Aufdemberge was born on August 22nd in Norfolk, Nebraska to Vernon Wood and Martha Koch. She was a dedicated loan officer of Bennington State Bank for 27 years and a member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she served as the financial secretary and a Sunday school teacher. She had a love for her plants, sports, weekend naps, and a good, strong cup of coffee. Her talent of interior design was evident when you walked into her home – warm and inviting just like she was. Laurie was a light everywhere she went and to everyone she met. She loved gathering with family and friends in “The Shack”, facetiming and reading books with her grandkids, and sitting with her beloved husband on their back porch, simply enjoying each other’s presence in God’s creation.

Her family, who awaits to join her in the presence of our Savior are as follows; her soulmate, Mike Aufdemberge, mother, Marty Koch of Lincoln, NE, daughters, Lindsay Watson of Phoenix, AZ, Miranda Weidenhaft (Chase) of Shady Bend, KS, Lexa Gillen (Spencer) of Morrill, NE. Grandchildren, Harris and Hudson Gillen, and Ellie Weidenhaft, sisters, Sheryl Standley of Summerville, South Carolina, Linda Phillips (Randy) of Menifee, California, and Kristi Bowker (Brad) of Waverly, NE, nephews Keaton and Riley Bowker, and niece Krystle Sharlock (Sunny) Summerville, South Carolina.

Laurie’s unwavering faith was boldly professed daily to anyone she came in contact with. Her joyful presence will be forever treasured in the hearts of her family and friends.

Our Savior welcomed his faithful daughter, Laurie into His Kingdom, on February 1st, and as she would say,  “ THIS IS AMAZEBALLS!”

In memory of our beloved Laurie, the family welcomes donations made to Faith Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers.

Service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Abilene, KS at 10:30 am, this Saturday February 7th. A reception will follow at the church. She will be laid to rest at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Lincoln, KS.
