Elaine Fulkerson

Elaine Rose (Pfannenstiel) Fulkerson was born on 8 April 1931, the eldest of eleven children. She had nine sisters and one brother. Elaine began life in Colorado and moved to Hays and other towns in Kansas during her childhood. She died on 11 October 2024, at age 93 years and six months.

Elaine is survived by her siblings: Marlene, Wilma (Joe), Carolyn, Norman (Glenda), Pauletta, and Romelda; her children, James (Laura), Deborah (Bill), and Katherine; 11 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great-Great Grandchildren. Elaine was predeceased by her sisters, Shirley Ann, Shirley Anna, Joan, and Aletha.

Elaine was married on 16 March 1951 at McCracken, Kansas to James Chester Fulkerson. He predeceased Elaine in 1996. She lived in Alaska, Germany, Kansas. Kentucky, Maryland, and Texas, and returned to Kansas after her husband retired from the military. She was a dedicated homemaker, gardener, and mother, and started her own cleaning business before transitioning into an independent grocery store demonstrator. She retired at age 86.  Elaine was always active in crafting and became active in Crafty Seniors and remained a member for many years, until Covid forced them to disband.

Services will be held at a later date.  The Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502, is assisting the family with the service arrangements.
