On April 12th members of the Junction City community came together in a show of civic pride and environmental stewardship during the city-organized “Operation Clean Sweep.” This annual Earth Day celebration marked its 17th successful year, with 119 dedicated volunteers lending their time and effort to help clean up public spaces across Junction City.
City officials noted that a total of 3,420 pounds of debris and trash was collected from city parks, entryways, and public properties. Since the event's inception, volunteers have removed 40,648 pounds, or 20.32 tons of trash from our city, making a significant and lasting impact on the environment and overall beauty of our community.
Organizations that supported this effort included:
- First Student, Inc. for generously providing transportation and helping move volunteers efficiently throughout the morning.
- Domino’s Pizza for supplying lunch to our volunteers.

To all the amazing volunteers and City of Junction City employees who gave their time, energy, and spirit—thank you for helping make Junction City a cleaner, greener place.
