The Lady Jay tennis team competed in the 6A Regional Tennis tournament this past Friday. The tournament was hosted by Wichita Southeast at the Riverside Tennis Complex in Wichita.
Leading the way for the Lady Jays was Hannah Micheel. She finished as the singles regional runner up going 3-1 on the day. Zoey Micheel won her first match over Manhattan 6-4, 6-1 before losing her next two rounds. In doubles, Emma Young and Maddi Sederlin won their first match 6-0, 6-0 over Wichita Heights before dropping their next two matches. The other doubles team of Hannah Huddleston and Addi Sederlin dropped their lone match of the day.
Overall, Junction City finished in 3rd place. Washburn Rural won the regional title. Hannah Micheel will represent the Lady Jay tennis team at the 6A State Tennis Tournament Friday and Saturday, October 17-18 in Olathe. Matches will begin at 10 am and will be held at the College Boulevard Activity Center.
