Chapman native and current Manhattan resident, Emily Markley Thiesen, will be the featured vocal jazz soloist at a special series concert at the Abilene City Big Band Concert Thursday, July 22nd at 8 p.m. That is being held at the Royer Band Shell, 619 North Rogers in Abilene.
Thiesen graduated with a degree in Vocal Jazz from the New York School for Jazz in New York City. As a student at Chapman High School she enjoyed summers playing French Horn in the Abilene Community Band.
Thiesen also spent more than 20 years singing and ringing handbells with the First Presbyterian Church in Junction City.
